Heartthrob’s friends at The Bunker in New York have included him in their terrific podcast series. His contribution is a recent live jam with mostly new and unreleased material. Something he hasn’t done in quite a long time… If you aren’t familiar already, subscribe as their roster is exceptional and their parties are the best in New York for over 15 years. We hope you like it!
“The Bunker Podcast 143 is a liveset of new material from Heartthrob, a long-time friend who first played The Bunker at subTonic in 2005. Since then, he’s graced our decks a number of times, released music on labels such as Minus, BPitch, Ghostly and Hot Creations and moved from New York to Paris to Berlin. In 2013, he started his own imprint, ISNISNT, which is releasing a record by our label artist Justin Cudmore later this year.”
Geist Agency interviewed Jesse Siminski on insights into where to eat ramen in Berlin, the new Heartthrob live set, the best pizza topping anyone could ever ask for and more.
“Stepping up to helm the fourth installment of Geist’s Nocturama mix series is ISNISNT label boss and all-round top guy, Heartthrob. He has been exploring various strains of house, techno, acid and minimal over the years, but for Nocturama he’s gone with some fun and easy-listening house. Given it was put together over a glass of white wine during a recent heatwave, that’s perhaps not so surprising.
With selections from Harvey Sutherland, STL, Galcher Lustwerk, Palms Trax and Christopher Rau, Heartthrob delivers a smooth, hour-long listen, mixed with finesse and a laid-back pace. The occasional left turns — like with the hyperactive rhythms of Minor Science’s Glamour after 28mins — are worked into a coherent whole and give the mix a welcome dash of the unexpected.”
Heartthrob produced the fourth entry in the Honcho Podcast Series. Honcho at Hot Mass, Pittsburgh is programmed in the spirit of today’s pioneering parties such as San Francisco’s Honey Soundsystem, London’s Horse Meat Disco and WRECKEDnyc. Providing an environment that sheds your inhibitions, Honcho helps to revive the role of the queer party as a keystone of dance music culture.
“Jesse Siminski is Heartthrob, the Michigan born producer who has been integral to the development of minimal techno since forever. An integral part of the Minus label for years, he has released countless seminal EPs and an LP back in 2008, as well as more recently turning up on labels like Hot Creations and ISNISNT with an ever-evolving sound. As such we are proud to present to you this month’s podcast from the man. As well as touching on plenty of artists you would expect — including Ambivalent and Max Loderbauer — so too are there tunes from dubby techno dudes like Conforce and Mike Huckaby, raw house sounds from Gerd and Alden Tyrell and plenty more in between. It makes for a journeying mix that covers a lot of ground in coherent style.”
“This week at the hive we bring Michigan native Jesse Siminski aka Heartthrob to set your loins on fire with a special live performance! Jesse uses his productions to explore the intersection where tradition and innovation cross as much as aesthetics and concepts. Where the ideal is function and entertainment as well as experimentation and emotion. We are excited to see how he turns out the dance floor at Honey Soundsystem in a more intimate setting as he is usually lighting dance floors on fire at festivals and clubs across the globe with recent appearances at London’s Fabric and Berlin’s Panorama Bar!”
